Personal Gender Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Hello! My name is Annette Haas and I am serving as the Counselor and Advocate from the Rape Crisis Center. I spend several days a week providing services on Edgewood College campus, however, I work for the Rape Crisis Center here in Madison. I have loved getting to know Edgewood College and the students here this past year and look forward to continue working with this community! I provide services to anyone who has been impacted by sexual violence at any point in their life (either as a survivor/victim or as a support person). It is an honor to work with individuals on their own unique healing journey.
My B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology were earned at Drake University, in Des Moines, IA. My Masters of Social Work was earned at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. My past work before coming to the Rape Crisis Center was primarily in outpatient mental health and community case management.
My approach in counseling is trauma-informed and empowerment based. I strive to create a safe and empowering space for all individuals to heal and decide what is right for them. I use an integrative approach which incorporates a variety of counseling skills appropriate for each individual and where they are starting. I work with individuals who are in all stages of healing from learning grounding skills, working through a crisis, to processing trauma experiences from years in the past.
My door is always open to anyone who is looking for counseling services, wants to learn more about the RCC or sexual assault, or just wants to chat. My advocacy and counseling services are free of charge and open to any student, staff, faculty, or community member. I am so honored to be a part of this community and work towards ending sexual assault. Please feel free to make an appointment with me or receive immediate support by calling the Rape Crisis Center 24/7 Helpline: (608) 251-7273. If you’re looking to set up a counseling appointment call during business hours and let them know you want to work with the Edgewood College RCC counselor.
