Mental Health Care for Faculty & Staff
Personal Counseling Services does not provide mental health counseling to faculty and staff. However, faculty and staff are encouraged to utilize the following resources:
The college's Employee Assistance Program, through Cigna, offers a range of services, including but not limited to free short-term mental health counseling. More information can be found in the faculty and staff handbooks, as well as on the Human Resources Sharepoint site.
Dean/SSM Health, the college's insurance provider, also offers a range of services to support mental health. More information can be found here. You can also call the number on the back of your insurance card to inquire about your benefits (e.g., cost of each appointment, how many appointments you're eligible for).
Additional resources, including local therapists and clinics, are listed by specialty area here.
If you would like to discuss your mental healthcare options with a counselor, please call PCS at (608) 663-4148 or email the counselor you'd be most comfortable speaking with.
When Concerned About a Student
At times, faculty and staff may become concerned about a student's well-being. In these instances, it can be helpful to call PCS at (608) 663-4148 to consult with a counselor about these concerns. Though a counselor will not be able to say whether or not they have met with the student, general recommendations and referrals may be provided.
If all counselors are meeting with students when you call, a counselor will call you back as soon as possible. In the case of an emergency, call 911 or see our list of after-hours crisis phone numbers here: crisis care
